Hillsboro - Emma L. Hershberger, 80, Rt 1, Hillsboro died Thursday at the home of her son near Hillsboro. Mrs. Hershberger was a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church Women and Hillsboro Pythian Sisters. She was a former member of the Waynetown Baptist Church and charter member of Delta Alpha Class at the Baptist Church. She was also a charter member of Come Join Us Class of the United Methodist Church, Hillsboro Pythian Sister and Fountain County Home Economics Club. Mrs. Hershberger was a Fountain County Women's Leader and had been affiliated with Indiana Roadside Council. She was instrumental in developing the Hillsboro Rest Park. She was born Nov 18, 1898 near East St. Louis, Ill a daughter of Robert L. and Rosella McPherson Smith. She lived several years at Mount Sterling, Ky and later moved to Waynetown. On Dec 29, 1917 she was marrie dto Claude Hershberger, who died Nov 17, 1977. She had lived near Hillsboro since 1917. Survivors are a son, James Hershberger of near Hillsboro; a sister, Bertha Fritts of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, two sisters and two brothers. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro with Rev. Dorman Winger and Rev. Ernest Hayden officiating. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today.
